A collaborative project between Montreal Arts Interculturels (MAI) and the Park Extension Youth Organization (PEYO) involving 16 children between ages of 6-12 who reside in Parc X in a 3-week summer camp at MAI. Animated by Mary Sui Yee Wong, and assisted by a slew of artists and educators, participants engaged in creative workshops centered around notions of home. November 16 - 27, 2004
Shadow series
Chez Soi / Home was conceived in response to the complex issues of identity faced by those who are relocating in increasing numbers to Montreal from around the world. The broader goal of the project was to foster an enhanced sense of worth and meaning among the participants by providing an opportunity
to examine and express their feelings and perceptions through visual and other media as well as exposure to established artists. Seldom represented in the larger community, the presentation of these points of view is also intended as a bridge to create greater awareness, among established groups and residents, of the nature and challenges of the contemporary experience of displacement and relocation.
